Wood-Mizer recognised as a ‘Fair Play Company’
For the second year running, Wood-Mizer Industries Sp. z o.o. has been recognised as a ‘Fair Play Company’ in Poland’s annual awards to promote ethics in business.
The company passed the two-stage verification process and was awarded the title and certificate at the Gala Ceremony of the 15th Jubilee Edition of the Fair Play Company 2012 programme, held at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw on December 7, 2012.
The Fair Play Company project assesses all aspects of a company’s operation in several areas, including the manner and style of management, rather than just focusing on economic performance or product quality. The objective is to promote standards of fair conduct in contacts with customers, business partners, employees, shareholders and the local community, as well as local and State authorities. It is intended to encourage all companies in Poland to practice ethical behaviour and not only make any necessary changes to the internal organisation of work, but also to develop positive relationships with the local community and to care about the environment.
With the migration of Polish workers and the overall situation in the country’s labour market, more and more employers are aware of the need for good personnel management. Appropriate relationships with employees have a positive impact on the prevailing atmosphere of the company. The motivation to work, loyalty and commitment are higher, which in turn helps the company to become more competitive in the market.
Employee relations are one of the most important areas of the concept behind the Fair Play Company programme and Corporate Social Responsibility. Creating and then maintaining positive employer-employee relationships is one of the greatest challenges facing a company’smanagement. It is a long-term process, which should lead to the formation of involved and integrated teams of employees and have a measurable effect on strengthening the company's position in the market, whether local, national or international.
During the 15th Edition of the Fair Play Company program, which took the theme of ‘It's the people that make the company’, special focus was placed on attention given by companies to the quality of employer-employee and employee-employee relationships. One of the main goals this year was to highlight interesting examples and methods of team management and to put special emphasis on this aspect of the day-to-day operation of companies.
