Wood-Mizer reports success at APF Show in Ragley Estate, Alcester Warwickshire, September 13-15, 2012

Wood-Mizer reports success at APF Show in Ragley Estate, Alcester Warwickshire, September 13-15, 2012 Several sales on the first day gave Wood-Mizer a flying start at the UK’s APF 2012 exhibition in September. The company’s large stand allowed for the demonstration of a good selection of sawmills and secondary processing equipment from both the ‘Orange’ professional range and the Industrial range.

"Our smaller mills attracted a lot of attention", said Dave Biggs, general manager of Wood-Mizer UK. "The LT15 was shown with the first UK demonstration of the MP150 moulder-planer, which runs on the same bed as the sawmill head. The MP150 can be fitted with straight knives for machining planed beams or profiled knives for producing moulded beams for easy assembly into log cabins - and it was surprising how many visitors were talking about that market."

While the Orange machines - which also included the diesel-powered LT20 and LT40 mobile sawmills - drew most interest, Wood-Mizer also sold a two-head version of the Industrial HR500 multihead resaw, which was on the stand alongside the EG300 edger/multirip.

Wood-Mizer’s thin-kerf sawmilling machinery is designed to combine lower investment and reduced maintenance and operating costs, with efficient production of quality timber with maximum yield from the log.

Electric- and diesel-powered machines were shown at APF, as well as static and mobile models to suit a variety of customers - from small woodland owners, land-owners and farmers with occasional or low volume requirements to saw logs into timber for their own use or for sale as an additional income, to contractors and sawmills whose business is full time log conversion.
In addition to the sawmills, equipment for adding value and improving production efficiency was demonstrated, with the HR115 resaw, MP100 planer-moulder and the EG300 edger/multirip for edging waney boards or cutting them into several boards of varying widths.

There was also a display of Wood-Mizer’s own-manufactured thin-kerf narrow bandsaw blades, including the SilverTip, DoubleHard and Stellite-tipped RazorTip ranges, together with the company’s blade setting and sharpening machines.
"It was a successful show for us", said Mr Biggs. "Our impression is that visitor numbers were down but that the quality of visitors was high, and in addition to the sales off the stand we gathered a large number of serious enquiries".
