Band saw demonstrations to be held in Cumbria, UK
A demonstration of sawmill technology designed to help woodland owners and contractors add value and enter new markets through the simple conversion of round timber into sawn lumber takes place at Millom, Cumbria on Friday 1st April.
This follows the appointment of Martin Phillips, 40 as Wood-Mizer’s representative in Cumbria
In either mobile or static versions, these band sawmills produce accurately sawn material with minimal waste. Using Wood-Mizer’s blade technology, refined over 30 years, simplicity and low running costs are possible.
Further downstream conversion, adding more value, is provided by a range of edgers, multi-rips and multi-head resaws. The Wood-Mizer range encompasses entry level machines up to industrial installations designed for three shift operation.
At Millom, sawmills in the price range £5,000 - £33,000 will be demonstrated, with typical daily outputs ranging from 4 –15m3 of finished lumber.
For further added value the Wood-Mizer Kiln, the Edger/MultiRip and the MP100 Planer/Moulder will also be demonstrated, showing the next stage of processing appropriate for estate or contractor based operations where there is a wish to develop new profitable markets for finished timber.
The demonstrations take place at Martin Phillips’ premises. A long-time Wood-Mizer operator, he gives after-sales support and training to Wood-Mizer customers and says: “These versatile, relatively low-cost band sawmills permit a profitable response to demand for sawn timber from locally grown hardwood and softwood trees.
“The secondary processing equipment takes the process into a rewarding next step” he adds.
