Despite reduction in visitors, Xylexpo organisers declare “optimism”

“Clear optimism” has been expressed by the organisers of the biennial Xylexpo timber trades fair in Milan, in early May. This year it attracted 51 480 visitors, dropping from 81 980 two years ago. Exhibitor numbers were down from 853 in 2008 to 652 this year.

Nevertheless, Acimall, the organising body expressed satisfaction. Paolo Zanibon, Xylexpo general manager comments:
“It was a good exhibition.

“We knew we had to face a difficult period with global woodworking technology trade down by 37.5%.

“However, Xylexpo is holding on, proving it still deserves the role it has been playing for 42 years amongst world trade fairs”, adds signor Zanibon.

Acimall president Ambrogio Delachi reported that orders were signed during the exhibition, “…something we had not seen for a long time.”
