Celebration of Trees 2010, Capel Manor College, Hertfordshire, England, 23rd and 24th April
'Showcasing' the best in arboriculture and the countryside, this trade fair at Capel Manor College has become a firm fixture in Great Britain's woodland calendar.
Last year’s event attracted over 40 exhibitors and 1,500 visitors and new features proved very successful.
Capel’s climbing competition (for Capel students), Gwynedd Axemen, a falconry display and a childrens' climb pulled the crowds again and are repeated this year. Thereby, the college hopes the event contributes to inspiring arborists of the future.
This year another Employer’s Forum takes place in the Manor House on
23rd April starting at 3.30pm. It discusses 'employer responsive training'; understanding one's business needs and in particular short courses, apprenticeships, 'train-to-gain' and 'bespoke training'. It also includes a presentation by Income Protect on tree surgeons' insurance services; understanding the complexities of public liability, employers liability and accident insurance. Anyone wishing to attend this section should register soon as places are limited.
As well as bringing together working professionals, students, the general public and youngsters wanting to discover more about woodland industries, visitors can also expect:
- Exhibitors launching new products and services,
- A network with other industry professionals,
- Equipment sales by the key industry suppliers, all in one field,
- Career opportunities and training advice for countryside and arboricultural activities; full-time, part-time short courses, apprenticeships and 'train to gain',
- Capel’s students competing in the work-and-speed climb,
- Friday – a schools day to encourage arborists of the future,
- Climbing demonstrations and advice,
- Refreshments and bar,
- Chainsaw carving,
- 30 acres of themed gardens,
- Easy access via the M25 and free parking... and free entry for students.
Wood-Mizer's British branch which has demonstrated at the Capel Manor College fair for some years, regards the event as an opportunity to inform new generations of arboriculturalists about the narrow kerf cutting technology incorporated in all its band sawmills. This year Wood-Mizer demonstrates a diesel version of its mid-range LT40 sawmill and a diesel version of its small LT15 bandsaw.
