DREMA, of which dreams are made. Poznan, Poland, 13th-16th April
The 26th DREMA international timber & furniture manufacturing machinery and tools trade fair opens this month under the banner: Tomorrow's Technologies. At the same time, the FURNICA international furniture production components fair takes place. Both events offer insight into cutting-edge solutions and the state of the industry in Central and Eastern Europe.
The region's most high-profile trade fair
For small, medium and large woodworking and furniture production companies, state-of-the-art technologies offer a pathway to a competitive edge in terms of operational costs and end product quality. Consequently, DREMA is much anticipated within the industry in Central and Eastern Europe and has a commanding position in the calendars of professionals ever seeking development possibilities. Certainly, the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers, EUMABOIS views the fair as a world-class event.
A yearly visit to Poznan prvides an opportunity to discover the potential of live machinery demonstrations. In addition to fascinating, diverse exhibitors’ demos' is a programme of industry-focused events along with novel presentation areas.
For professionals, visiting DREMA and FURNICA means direct contact with around 800 leading global suppliers of techniques and technologies who 'showcase' their offerings in nearly 30,000 square metres of exhibition area. Exhibitors hail from 22 countries: Austria, Belgium, China, Columbia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and USA. The organisers’ expect DREMA and FURNICA 2010 to be visited by more than 22,000 professionals from Poland and abroad, ever seeking ways of developing their businesses.
Live demos' never seen before
Live Furniture Factory is a dedicated presentation space that combines the interests of visitors to both DREMA and FURNICA. 'Live', full-scale machinery produces fascinatingly designed, upholstered furniture using cutting-edge technology and materials. The Department of Furniture Design from Poznan University of Life Sciences supervises these interesting yet logistically tricky events. The 'Factory' not only demonstrates recent technological breakthroughs but also involves students: our future furniture industry management.
Polwood – European-scale discussion
This year's fair also hosts the 4th Economic Forum of the Polish Wood and Furniture Industry, POLWOOD organised jointly by the Inwestor Publishing House and Miedzynarodowe Targi Poznanskie (International Shows in Poznan). Made up of representatives of leading woodworking companies and industry groups, the forum will address sawmill and furniture industries and focus on issues related to the challenges faced by the industry and the best directions of its development. The position of the Polish wood and furniture industry in the European Union is high on the agenda. Representatives of key industry organisations from abroad plus foreign and Polish trade media journalists attend.
DREMA for sawmill industry
Sawmills represent a crucial part of the woodworking industry and DREMA includes events addressed to professionals from that sector. They include a 'Cutting-edge technologies for the sawmill industry' seminar attended by invited manufacturers and partners from appropriate research centres. Novel responses to the need to streamline production in small, medium and large sawmills will be presented and discussed. The organisers anticipate high turnout from sawmill and related companies interested in long-term business development based on economic and safe production methods.
Wood-Mizer's DREMA demonstrations
Talking of sawmills…Wood-Mizer, as a leading manufacturer of mobile and stationary band sawmills and other timber processing kit demonstrates several upgraded technical solutions at DREMA.
Wood-Mizer's demos' start with the most-popular-in-Europe, mid-range LT40 band sawmill with hydraulic log handling and outfeed table. Next, a recently released, ‘chunkier’ LT20B sawmill on a segmented bed is now remotely controlled. Additionally, an edger/multirip demonstrates an interesting productivity increase opportunity. The smallest sawmill in the Wood-Mizer range is the LT15 Series that now has 'Setworks'(computerised, pre-set sawing), an optional debarker and powered feed. For manufacturers interested in industrial level band blade maintenance an advanced industrial sharpener and automatic setter shows its paces.
Poznan: worth being there
The mutually complementary DREMA and FURNICA trade fairs are amongst top international events addressed to professionals from the woodworking and furniture industries. Thanks to over one hundred new products and international premieres along with conferences and presentation areas, it is worth being there. The organisers have paid much attention to comfort: registered visitors enjoy free entry and can rest and take complimentary refreshment in Rest&Meet points around the fair. Miedzynarodowe Targi Poznanskie (International Shows in Poznan) encourages on-line registration or on-site at ticket offices. For unregistered visitors, tickets will be priced at 60 PLN (single-entry ticket) and 90 PLN (four-day ticket). Guests driving to DREMA can use the attended car park 350 metres from the fairgrounds on Matejki Street. The fair is conveniently located for visitors arriving at the railway station or airport. Could it be that DREMA is where the industry's 'dreams are made of' Robert Baginksi, Wood-Mizer's sales manager for Europe, Africa and Asia thinks so:
“DREMA is important for the Polish market which we dominate as the leading narrow band sawmill manufacturer. This year we demonstrate a group of updated technical solutions enhanced to recommendations of Polish customers. We believe these improvements will be met with enthusiasm strengthening our position in European market", he adds.
