Wood-Mizer goes deep with a major expedition in Africa 01/04/2008
Wood-Mizer, which pioneered narrow blade timber sawing now will respond to an historical trend in many parts of Africa to seek less costly methods of processing wood. The company is already served by dealers like the South African representative, Gearing Moss which took the message to hundreds of southern African operators who successfully used the narrow band technology to convert logs into high-margin lumber. Now Wood-Mizer will spread further in the continent.

Italian dealers demonstrate SLP at big Italian biennial
Wood-Mizer has a strong presence at Xylexpo, the big biennial woodworking machinery and technologies fair in Milan, in May. This is an important European trade fair for Wood-Mizer as nearly 50,000 visitors from outside Italy attend. It is also of great importance to Wood-Mizer Italia since another 45,000 visitors come from within Italy.

Small blade band sawmill pioneer Wood-Mizer reports another record year in 2007, continuing five years’ growth amounting to 310%, and it predicts another good one for 2008. A promotion of discounts on certain mills is one of several factors in such managed growth. Last year’s most dynamic sales increases, 73%, were in Eastern Europe, with 36% more in the West and 22% in Central Europe.

Wood-Mizer Industries has made it to the list of Poland’s top companies
On 16th October Wood-Mizer received an award for reaching No 292 in the Vehicles of Time* ranking of over 3,000 companies in Poland, at the Dzialynskis’ Palace, in Poznan. The ranking is adjudged jointly by the Polish newspaper GAZETA PRAWNA and international credit ratings group, Dun & Bradstreet, and supported by Dutch-based international bank, ING.

Going in hard with the blades
In a major move, Wood-Mizer has transferred the key process of induction hardening its band blades destined for Europe to the European manufacturing facility in Poland. Blades for the Americas are still hardened in Indianapolis at the parent headquarters. This follows dramatic expansion of European blade manufacturing lines and brings the process a step closer to the strategic move of the entire European blades process –– from melt at steel mill to dispatch to customers –– to Europe.
